Many of you know I spent my entire working career, 42 years, in higher education before retiring only to be quickly lured out of retirement by the challenges of being the association manager for this Association.
The standard, high end ‘credential’ for working in higher education is the Ph.D. which I earned in 1989. After completing my oral and comprehensive exams, I swore I would never take another test except to renew my driver’s license! Well, never say never…....
Recently, Max Horner, who we hired to be the security guard for Hidden Valley, has submitted his resignation and given two weeks notice of such.
So, I am a actively looking for a replacement for him. If you or anyone whom you know may have interest, please encourage them to come to the administrative offices at Sugar Valley to complete a job application and interview with me.
MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Sugar Valley Lake Homes Assoc., INC. is to preserve and enhance the properties of Sugar Valley and Hidden Valley by maintaining and improving the common and personal properties of the Association and members. This will be accomplished by upholding, and when necessary, modifying the documents that govern all properties with the unwavering intent to promote the common benefit and enjoyment of the members of the Association as a w...
Today, I am going to be the bearer of some bad news. I have decided that we are going to pull the 'guest' access to our internet service while in the Club House at Sugar Valley.
This will become effective on February 20 beginning at 12:00 AM.
We must make this change because we, in the administrative offices, cannot effectively do our job when guest use is even at a moderate level, let alone when it is being used heavily. Our first obligation is...
Tonight, I will be at the Hidden Valley Club House to conduct an Association Manager's 'Listening Session'.
I look forward to hearing of concerns from our association members. I also look forward to dialogue on not only what our pressing issues are, but I look forward to hearing the best ideas on how to tackle those most pressing problems.
My hope is that having this session before the Board Meeting it will provide us more time to delve deeper into the issues. Pleas...
Today I would like to spend some time introducing myself to you and giving you some background on me in the hope that I will become more transparent in my thought process and decision making on behalf of the Association.

Max Horner has accepted the job of Security Guard at Hidden Valley Lakes.
I offered the position to him this morning and he promptly traveled to Hidden Valley to do some training and orientation. Max is now officially on the job! You will see Max making patrols around the lake in the same vehicle that Bill Walkling, our former security at Hidden Valley, used to patrol. The Hidden Valley Security vehicle is a brown, GMC Sonoma, extended cab.
I return to the topic of a mission statement for the Association as a whole. As I indicated in an earlier blog, I want to write a mission statement that the Board will approve, and more importantly, embrace.
I now turn to you, our members-to critique the statement I have written and copied below. I have already vetted it among various staff members. That is to say that it is inclusive of the things that I want to be included. They are:
