Home owner management research literature is rife with studies that show that widespread and significant member engagement is one of the most predicable factors that align with strong and active home owner associations.  When one sees copious amounts of Association member volunteer efforts given one can see a strong and vibrant Association community.

I witness this daily.  Let me give you examples, but I intentionally will not mention names, as I am more apt to miss...

April 6, 2018

Here it is on a late Friday afternoon as I begin to tap out a few lines about OUR Association.

I use the term OUR very deliberately.  This home lake association is ours, It belongs to us members!  I was quite purposeful when I was drafting the mission statement to be clear that we were going to be about improving the quality of lives for our members while increasing the value of the properties.  I can say with great confidence we are ‘on that road’....

April Fools

To my dismay and to the dismay of many other members, April weather (RE: cold weather) has been very unpredictable.  That has caused us to delay indefinitely the opening of the Association shower houses.

Our plan moving forward is to monitor the trends regarding temperatures and not open the shower houses until it is safe to do so and not be concerned about pipes freezing and bursting.  We certainly do not need or want extensive, expensive and time consumi...

Camping season is upon us and the shower houses will be in full swing.  With April 1st being on Sunday, and a holiday at that, we will be opening shower houses at both lakes on Monday, April 2nd. The shower house at Sugar Valley clubhouse will be open on Monday also, since our clubhouse is closed on Sunday for the holiday. As usual, the clubhouse shower/restroom at Sugar Valley clubhouse will be open only during business hours.

A change in the main shower houses at b...

Pool Concerns

At the Board meeting held on February 15, I brought forward a proposal from a vendor to bring the pool up to full operational standards.  The cost was about $70,000.  That proposal was voted down by the Board members.  It is a simple fact that with current obligations the Association does not have $70,000 to do the necessary repairs to the pool.

At the Board meeting on March 15, I proposed that the Board approve a motion to form a committee to...
